ADIABATIC SECOND HARMONIC GENERATION AND GOUY PHASE COMPENSATION FOR HIGH-INTENSITY FREQUENCY CONVERSION

Abstract
In this seminar, I will demonstrate two efficient techniques for second harmonic generation using Lithium Triborate (LBO, LiB3O5) crystal as the interaction medium; achieving high-intensity frequency conversion. The first technique enables broadband thermal and spectral acceptance, based on adiabatic frequency conversion, by setting a temperature gradient along the crystal; The measurement exhibit increase of the temperature acceptance bandwidth from 3 degrees C to 17 degrees C.
The second technique enables to compensate for the unwanted phase shift of Gaussian beam, known as Gouy phase-shift, again by setting a varying temperature gradient along the LBO crystal. For both techniques, the goal is to improve the performance with respect to the traditional method in which the crystal temperature is fixed along the entire interaction length.
