Abstract
High Brightness Light Emitting Diodes (HB LED) are the future of lighting. LEDs have long service life, are durable, highly efficient, low cost, have high output luminescence, and, practically, are maintenance free. For these reasons LED lighting systems are becoming popular and in few years are expected to dominate the world’s lighting market.
In this seminar we present a novel AC/DC converter for off-line LED lighting applications. The proposed converter, is comprised of a single stage off-line quasi-resonant charge pump with power factor correction features and has additional advantageous merits including low part count, steep conversion ratio, zero voltage switching, low switch voltage stress and dimming capability.
A crucial auxiliary subsystem of a LED driver circuit is the power MOSFET gate driver. In the lecture we’ll reveal a novel gate driver topology with voltage lifting, suited for driving high-side MOSFET switch. The suggested gate driver circuit is very simple and suitable for many other low-cost applications as well.
In the upcoming seminar we’ll discuss the principles of operation, theoretical analysis of the proposed circuits and exchange experimental knowhow.
